Rocking Horse

(Julie Sparks)
Rocking Horse

There is a rocking horse down by the river
When I get the whisky we go for a ride
The neighbours are talking, they whisper about him
They don’t like his way, his wicked and wise

I never liked rounders, never a cowgirl
Never ran horses, not ever before
But he take me so gentle, on up to the hillside
The stars in the hollow are worth waiting for

And we climb
I’m riding the rocking horse
Riding the rocking horse

There is a chapel that shines in the moonlight
There I called for the preacher and fell to my knees
I said Pity God take me, or the devil will break me
Cursed to saddle wild horses that long to run free

And we climb
I’m riding the rocking horse
We climb

Oh sweet reverie
Can’t you see what you done to me

And we climb
I’m riding the rocking horse
We climb

I’m riding the rocking horse
Riding the rocking horse
Riding the rocking horse
Riding the rocking…
