Juliana Sparks: Music
I Bless You
(Julie Sparks)
I Bless You
I bless the bitter cold and the pouring rain
The broken coffee cup when I get up
The endless dripping in the drain
The roar of traffic jangling in my brain
I bless the pounding baby feet above my head
All the clatter and commotion
When I’m safely in my bed
Mama’s muffled lullabies
Crooning through the air
I bless the universal law that someone cares
So don’t tell me it all doesn’t matter
When you can look at me that way
Maybe that’s what’s written in the master plan
But I’ll be damned if I can throw it all away
I bless the humming in my kitchen 3:00 AM
When I’m sitting in the darkness and I cannot find a friend
I bless airplanes and diesel trains and buses going by
I can count the moving people in my mind
So don’t tell me it all doesn’t matter
When you can look at me that way
Maybe that’s what’s written in the master plan
But I’ll be damned if I can throw it all away
I bless Patsy Cline and Charlie Chaplin
And jokes that I can never tell the endings to
I bless hurricanes with funny names
I can’t believe are true
But most of all baby I bless you
But most of all baby I bless you
But most of all baby I bless you
